Dr. Goodwin: Cardiology
Dr. Goodwin received his veterinary degree from Tuskegee University. He completed his internship in 2000 at the Coral Springs Animal Hospital, and then went on to complete a cardiology residency at Purdue University from 2005 to 2008. Dr. Goodwin is a Diplomate of The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology). He is one of less than 200 board certified cardiologists in the United States.
Dr. Tomes: Ultrasound
Berks Veterinary Ultrasound was started in 2003 by Dr. Jason Tomes. Dr. Tomes grew up outside of Chicago and did his undergrad work at the University of Illinois. He continued his education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1983. He then completed a one-year post-doc medicine, surgery and teaching program at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1984 he moved to Berks County and worked in general practice until 2003. At that time he started Berks Veterinary Ultrasound and has limited his practice to mobile ultrasound work since. He has been ultrasounding patients since 1993, after having purchased one of the first machines for general veterinary practice in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Tomes has been actively involved with the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society since 2006. In addition to IVUSS, Dr. Tomes is a member of the Veterinary Ultrasound Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, and the Schuylkill Valley Veterinary Medical Association. Locally, Dr. Tomes has been on a number of TV programs and co-hosted a weekly radio show about pet health care.
Dr. Kurt Michelotti: Surgery
Dr. Michelotti was born and raised in State College, Pennsylvania. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Penn State University and remains an avid Nittany Lions football fan. He completed veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles, California, graduating with honors. He returned to the east coast to complete a small animal rotating internship at Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center and remained in Pittsburgh for another four years, where he completed a surgical internship followed by a surgical residency in small animal surgery. Dr. Michelotti is trained in soft tissue, orthopedic, neurologic, and minimally invasive surgery. He truly enjoys the diversity that small animal surgery has to offer. He lives in Mechanicsburg with his wife, son, and their two dogs- a Pomeranian and a Husky mix.
